Michael James Whinery July 30, 1944 – January 10, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers Send Sympathy Gifts View/Sign Guest Book| Send Sympathy Card Michael James Whinery, 74, of Blanchard, passed from this life on Thursday, January 10, 2019, in Blanchard. The son of James Earl Whinery and Irene Elizabeth (Smith) Whinery, he was born July 30, 1944 in Chickasha, Oklahoma. Mike grew up in Blanchard and attended Blanchard Schools.

He was a talented athlete and was All-State in both basketball and baseball. He graduated from Blanchard High School in 1962. Mike served in the Army National Guard.

He married Donna Sue Houck on June 2, 1979 in Chickasha. Mike worked as a purchasing supervisor for Grady Memorial Hospital and retired after 23 years of service. Earlier in his life, he went on various mission trips to the countries of Mexico, Belize, and Brazil.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Blanchard. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing golf, bowling, and going to the movies. His greatest enjoyment came from spending time with his family, especially his children and grandchildren.

He will be remembered for always having a positive attitude and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Kenneth Whinery; and one sister, Linda Corn. Mike is survived by his wife of 39 years, Donna Whinery, of Blanchard; three daughters, Trisha Whinery-Sites and her husband, Angus, of Spring, Texas, April Cole and her husband, Brian, of Blanchard, and Nicole Miller of Chickasha; one son, Chad Miller and his wife, Stevie, of Amber; nine grandchildren, Carson, Allie, Addison, Mathew, Molly, Jared, Kaylee, Brynlea, and Cason; and one great granddaughter, Nova; two sisters, Earla Dewbre of Lookeba and Tressa Smith and her husband, Mike, of Mustang; and many other loved ones and friends.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, January 12, 2019, at the First Baptist Church in Blanchard. Arrangements are under the direction of Eisenhour Funeral Home of Blanchard. Online obituary and guestbook are available at www.
