LaVerne A. Hansen, 95, Hobart, was called home on Saturday, June 2, 2018, at Emerald Bay Memory Care. Over the past few months, she was more excited than ever to have her heavenly father call for her and we are all confident he said, “well done, my child”. LaVerne was born March 10, 1923, to the late Theodore and Virginia Everard.

On November 8, 1941, she married Donald Hansen Sr. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Oneida. Donald proceeded her in death on April 22, 2011 after 69 years of marriage. Donald and LaVerne raised 14 children on a small dairy farm in Hobart.

LaVerne worked hard inside and outside the house. Saturdays were by far the best as it was bread baking day with six loaves of homemade bread out of the oven by noon. The work and love that went into that bread was enjoyed by all.

It was a feeling of connection to sit down at the kitchen table with a slice of warm bread with cheese. And, of course, a piece of dessert with ice cream. LaVerne is survived by eight sons, Norbert and Mary Lee, Denmark; Don and Joan, Hobart; Tony and Bonnie, Pittsfield; David and Georgette, Luxemburg; Mark and Joanie, Pittsfield; Wayne and Lisa, Krakow; John, Green Bay; and Paul and Gail, Hobart; one daughter, Cathy and Russ Jarosinski, Pittsfield; two daughters-in-law, Shelby Bohman, Two Rivers and Sandy Hansen, Green Bay; and two sons-in-law, Dennis Steigenberger, Hobart and Gary Baumann, Hobart; 36 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

She is further survived by one sister, Joanne Elbe, and one brother, Ted Everard. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three daughters, Marion, Lorraine and Barbara; two sons, Jim and Harold; a grandson, Doug Hansen; four sisters, Rose Marie Nikodem, Vivian Hansen, Elaine Sobiek, and Frances Bukoske; and two brothers, Gerald Everard and Richard Everard. To say LaVerne loved her family would be an understatement.

Her love could be seen in her eyes and her heart from the moment each of her children were born. Up to the last day, her eyes would light up and she’d smile when a family member visited. Of course, her eyes were especially bright when her visitor was a grandchild, great-grandchild or great-great grandchild.

And, if one of those children was a baby, that’s where her attention went first. To have a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother who loved her family with such depth is a blessing beyond compare. LaVerne spent hours quilting for both donation and family members.

We will each cherish the quilts made by Grandma. LaVerne’s life was defined by faith and family. She was a woman of great integrity and quiet strength and was nothing less than inspiring for her dignity and character.

It was common to walk into the house to find her sitting in her chair reading the bible. When asked how she was doing, it was always “very good”. Visitation will take place at Lyndahl Funeral Home, 1350 Lombardi Avenue, on Friday, June 8, 2018 from 4:00 pm to 6:30 pm followed by a memory sharing service.

Visitation will continue Saturday, June 9, 2018, at St. John Lutheran Church, 2700 Babcock Road, at 10:00 am until the funeral service at 11:00 am with the Rev. Josh Fite officiating. Burial will be at St. John Lutheran Cemetery in Ashwaubenon.
