Obituary for LaVona Furlow Purcell LaVona Furlow Purcell, 83, of Magnolia, AR, passed away Thursday, June 21, 2018 in Walnut Creek, CA. LaVona was born on March 1, 1935 in Magnolia, AR to the late William Orland and Lenna Frances (Sanders) Furlow. She was a member of the Harmony United Methodist Church and was on the Harmony Cemetery Association Board.
She was also a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), and the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA). LaVona was preceded in death by her parents and a sister Libby Longino Pearce. She is survived by her sons, Timothy Wayne Purcell and wife Susan Yoshihara and John David Purcell and wife Sharon; daughter Cynthia Elaine Moore and husband Kevin; grandsons, Douglas Purcell, Brandon Purcell, and Eric Moore; granddaughters, Kathryn Rachal and husband Will, Alyssa Purcell, Jennifer Petersen and husband Drake, Caroline Purcell, and Holly Moore; great grandson Matthew Rachal; great granddaughter Lenna Elizabeth Rachal; sister Nelda Reeves and husband Barney Hugh; and brother-in-law Larry Pearce.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, July 6, 2018 at Lewis Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Wayne Edwards officiating. Burial will follow at the Harmony United Methodist Cemetery under the direction of Lewis Funeral Home, Inc. in Magnolia, AR.
Visitation will be held Friday from 9:00 to 10:00 AM at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Douglas Purcell, Roy Longino, Toby Longino, Gregory Reeves, Cris Reeves, and Wil Atkinson. The family requests memorial donations are sent to the Lenna Sanders Furlow or W.O. Furlow Scholarship Fund at Southern Arkansas University Foundation, P.O.
