Layne L Atwood, age 69, of Pleasant Grove left this mortal existence peacefully at his home Tuesday, November 6, 2018 surrounded by his family and friends. He fought a courageous battle with cancer, yet lived every day to the fullest. Layne was born February 16, 1949 in Roosevelt (Duchesne County) Utah to Preston LeRoy and Clara Leida Wooley Atwood.

He married Sherri Dawn Walker on February 14, 1970 in Pleasant Grove. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Layne enjoyed a wonderful childhood growing up in Lindon, Utah.

He graduated from Pleasant Grove High School in 1967. Through his various talents, his strong work ethic, and his sense of humor Layne touched the lives of many people. Layne was honored to have built homes for hundreds of families throughout the state.

He was known for his integrity and quality in the construction industry. He did not cut corners. Layne did not build houses, he built homes.

His life was filled with adventure in the outdoors with his wife, family and friends. He enjoyed hunting, riding ATVs, exploring ghost towns, golfing, coaching and attending baseball games. Layne loved his family and spent a life time creating memorable gifts and memories for them.

He will be greatly missed. He is survived by his loving wife Sherri of Pleasant Grove; four children: Justin Layne (Stacy) Atwood, Pleasant Grove; Maggie (Dan) Nelson, Midvale; Ryan Glade (Allison) Atwood, Maricopa, AZ and Jill (David) Einerson, Pleasant Grove; grandchildren: Justin Keller Atwood, Porter Preston Atwood, Camille Atwood, Olin Teachnor Atwood, Erin Maggie Nelson, Anna Maggie Nelson, Grace Malynn Atwood, Emma Clair Atwood, Aspen Lynne Einerson and Levi David Einerson; siblings: Cloyd Preston Atwood and Naon Smith, Pleasant Grove. He was preceded in death by his parents Preston and Leida Atwood.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 10, 2018 at 11:00 am in the Battle Creek Seventh Ward Chapel, 1106 East 200 South, Pleasant Grove. Family and friends may attend a viewing Friday evening from 6 – 8 p.m. at Olpin Family Mortuary, 494 South 300 East, Pleasant Grove and at the church on Saturday from 9:30 -10:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment will be in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery.
