L. E. “Gene” Williams, age 90, resident of Williston, Tennessee, departed this life Sunday, December 23, 2018, at Shelby Gardens in Cordova, Tennessee. A Funeral Service for Mr. Williams will be at 12 Noon Saturday, December 29, 2018 at the Peebles West Chapel in Oakland with Father Robbie Favazza, pastor of St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church in Somerville, officiating. Arrangements will be provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center – West Chapel in Oakland.

Gene was born October 26, 1928 in Littleville, Alabama, the son of the late Monroe Clifton Williams and Icey Ora George Williams. He received his education in Memphis, Tennessee and a member of St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church. He was married on February 10, 1962 to Carolyn Holmes for 56 wonderful years.

Gene was owner of Century Refrigeration & Services from 1962 to his retirement in 1997. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening. He served our country in the Marines.

Mr. Williams is survived by his wife, Carolyn Williams of Williston, TN; his daughter, Melinda VanNieuwenhuyze (Gavin) of Oakland, TN; his son, Richard Williams of Fresno, CA; his sister, Shirley Woodford (Woody) of Olive Branch, MS; and his brother, Don Williams (Suzanne) of Brunswick, TN. He also leaves three grandchildren, Bruce Parham (Mackenzie), Sara Nicholas, Brittany Williams and two great-grandchildren, Carson Parham and Peyton Wells. In addition to his parents, was preceded by three sons, Allen Eugene Williams, Jeffrey Scott Williams, James Patrick Williams; two sisters, Doris Brown, Barbara Palazola; and two brothers, Bobby Williams and Billy Williams.
