Lena Fusacchia Lazzaro, 93, of Belle Vernon, died peacefully at home in Belle Vernon. Born June 10, 1924 in McKeesport, she was the daughter of the late Gesualdo and Angeline Curcio Fusacchia. Lena worked in McKeesport Candyettes and was the first woman hired at Christy Park Works Steel Mill in McKeesport.

Her work assignment consisted of measuring the amount of Mercury in the bombs. While there she was introduced to Holmes Lazzaro. Holmes and Lena were married on Dec.

3, 1951 and were the proud owners and operators of the Sun Rise Inn Bar and Restaurant in Braznell, PA. Lena and Holmes would have celebrated 56 years of marriage in 2007. Lena and Holmes had four children, six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Lena is predeceased by her husband, a granddaughter, brothers Dominic, Orlando Armando and Oliano and a sister Stefana. Lena was a loving and happy wife and mother. She enjoyed cooking, baking and canning along with playing 500 with her family and working the daily crossword.

Private family funeral services were held Saturday with the Rev. James Bump in the Parzynski Funeral Home & Cremations, Family Owned and Operated, 626 Broad Avenue, Belle Vernon 724-929-6183.
