Obituary for Ronald C. Sotta Ron C. Sotta, 79, of Washington Township, passed away Friday, April 13, 2018 at Mon Valley Hospital. A son of the late Cyril and Honor Sotta, and brother to the late Nancy Sotta Stimmel, he was born on December 9, 1938. Long active in the community, he was a former member of the Washinton Township Board of Supervisors during which time he served as Supervisor of Police, the Mid-Mon Valley Transit Authority Board of Directors, the Washington Township Municipal Authority and the Belle Vernon Area Board of Education.
He also was a life member of the Washington Township Volunteer Fire Department, where he was chief and financial secretary during a 25 year period of growth and expansion of facilities. He was a member of the Fayette County Fire Chiefs Association and the Pennsylvania Fire Chiefs Association. After starting in the warehouse, he worked his way to co-own the one-time Atlas Merchandising Co., a wholesale-retail business that served area businesses for decades.
Upon retirement, he donated the building to the Charleroi Area School District. The Mon Valley Alliance has since acquired and demolished the building, leaving the land to become part of a “gateway” to a future riverfront park. While Mr. Sotta has no immediate surviving family, he leaves behind many friends.

Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Tuesday at 12:30 P.M. with Rev. Suzanne Currie officiating. Interment will be follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
