Obituary for Catherine M. Johnston Catherine M. Johnston, 94, of Bakersfield, CA, formerly of Speers Hill, passed away, on Sunday, May 6, 2018. A daughter of the late George and Mary Kruppa Kornosky, she was born in Long Branch on October 20, 1923. She was a lifelong member of the Speers Civic Club and spent most of her adult life in Speers Hill, however she recently moved to California to live with her daughter.

She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and David Johnson of Barnesville, MD, Kim and John Krener of Bakersfield, CA; a son, James Johnston, Jr. of Crownsville, MD; six grandchildren, James Johnston, III, Scott Johnston, David Johnson, Abby Johnson, John Cody Krener and Cole Krener; and a great granddaughter, Josalina Johnston. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, James C. “Chinny” Johnston on July 8, 2013; three sisters, Helen Ermlich, Elsie Dallaglio, and Margaret Bennett; a brother George Kornosky. A memorial service will be held at a time and date to be determined later.
