Obituary for Lena V. Mironchuk (Merolla) REXFORD Lena V. Mironchuk, 97, formerly of Troy and Waterford died peacefully December 20, 2018 at her residence. Born in Brooklyn, she was the daughter of the late Pietro and Lucia Mazzella Merolla. Lena was a communicant of St. Mary of the Assumption Church, St. Joseph’s Church and the former St. Anne’s Church.
In her earlier years she owned and operated Lena’s Beauty Salon in South Troy. She was most known for her love and generosity. She always cherished her time with family and friends.
Lena was the wife of the late Andrew Mironchuk and the mother of Andrew P. Mironchuk (Janny) of Albany, Susan Mironchuk of Brandon, Fl, Linda Nurminen (Antti) of Latham, and Janice Mironchuk of Rexford. She was the sister of Mary Law of Rexford and the late Tena LaMorticello, Eva Angelozzi, Rosa Merolla, Sylvester Merolla, Helen Dinardo, Joseph Merolla and Dorothy Diem. Lena is also survived by her grandchildren, Ivan Mironchuk (Sarah) and Rena Mironchuk and Marita and Alisa Nurminen as well as several great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Friday at 9 a.m. at the Philip J. Brendese Funeral Home, Waterford and at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Waterford. Interment will follow in Waterford Rural Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit at the funeral home Thursday from 4-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
