St. Johnsbury, VT: Leo Donald Beaulieu, age 84, of Lafayette Street passed at the Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital Monday night, January 14, 2019, following a short decline. Leo was born in St. Johnsbury, VT, son March 7, 1934, son to the late John Aime and Eva (Corriveau) Beaulieu. He was raised and educated in St. Johnsbury graduating from the St. Johnsbury Trade School in the Class of 1953.

Leo joined the National Guard after high school and served with the USMC to retirement in 1973. He served throughout the world including Okinawa, Newfoundland and was a USMC Recruiter in Maine and at Parris Island, SC, as well as one tour in Vietnam. While he was stationed at Quantico, he met K. Jean Ferguson and have shared over 46 years together.

Leo was a chef and cooked for thousands of troops during his career as a Marine. His specialty was baking and following his service retirement he worked at Weeks Hospital in Lancaster, NH, as the Director of Food Service and as a baker at Dunkin Donuts in St. Johnsbury. He also enjoyed carpentry and was quite good at anything he tried.

Leo is survived by his beloved wife, Jean, of St. Johnsbury, 2 sons: Donald Beaulieu of Sterling, VA, Kevin Beaulieu of Sneads Ferry, NC; and their mother: Lois Beaulieu of Sneads Ferry, NC, a sister-in-law: Dotty Nelsen of Sylva, NC, 2 brothers-in-law: Tom Ferguson (Betty) of Enterprise, AL, David Ferguson (Karen) of San Diego, CA, 2 nephews: Douglas Bedard (Nancy) of FL, and Steve Bedard (Nancy) of Concord, VT, and several other nieces and nephews. He was pre-decesaed by his brothers: Robert, Burt and Raymond Bedard and a brother-in-law: Dr. Quayle Nelsen. A Graveside Service with Military Honors will be held in the spring.
