Leo Gardner Boulder, Utah Leo J Gardner, 89, passed away at his home in Boulder on October 10, 2018. Leo was born August 27, 1929 to Partha Ann Jacobson and Leornal Gardner in St. George. He was the fourth of eight children—brothers: Ed, Melvin, Malin and George; sisters: Helen, Mary and Ann.

His first years were spent in Pine Valley, Central and St. George. He attended elementary, high school and college in St. George. There he met his eternal companion, Barbara Coleman.

They were married on December 16, 1949 in the St. George Temple. Together they raised nine children: David (Cindi) Gardner, Ivins/Richmond; Kenneth (Angie) Gardner, Smithfield; Larry (Hettie) Gardner, Enoch; Barbara Dawn (Vaughn) Evans, Logandale, NV; Linda (Mike) Staheli, Smithfield; Pat (Kelly) Shakespear, Tropic; Kevin (Colene) Gardner, Boulder; Carol (Brent) Stratton, Lacey, WA; and Ray (Caroline) Gardner, Boulder. Leo and Barbara began their married life in St. George, then moved to Henderson, Nevada.

They returned to Utah and lived in Enterprise and Beryl for 27 years where Leo farmed and raised cattle. In 1980, the Gardner’s moved to Boulder where Leo pursued his loved of ranching. Leo always said his greatest accomplishments in his life were his nine children.

He and Barbara have 47 grandchildren and 74 great-grandchildren, with more on the way. Leo is survived by his wife, children, grand and great-grandchildren; siblings: Malin, George, Helen and Ann. He is preceded in death by his parents; siblings: Ed, Melvin and Mary; grandsons: Randy and Seth.

The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses, neighbors and friends for caring acts and prayers. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 18, 2018 at 12:00 Noon in the Boulder Ward Chapel, 180 East 300 North, where friends may call from 10- 11:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Boulder Cemetery. Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti.
