Obituary of Leroy Foster Leroy G. “Roy” Foster, 69, of Lakeland Florida and Westfield, NY passed away Thursday October 18, 2018 in his home in Westfield due to Agent Orange exposure while serving during the Vietnam War. He was born January 1, 1949 in Jamestown the son of the late Herbert and Carrol Chase Foster. Roy enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1967.

He actively served his country as a fuel specialist for 21 years, during which time he sprayed vegetation control at Anderson Air Base in Guam, and then worked with the Civil Service an additional 17 years before retiring. Following his retirement from the Air Force, Roy attended Fredonia State College, earning his Bachelor of Science degree. For the last several years, Roy worked tirelessly as an Advocate for veterans most recently Toxic Veterans-Operation Stand Together.

He was instrumental in getting H.R.809 The Foster Act presented to Congress in 2017 by Governor Ross of Florida. It includes all Veterans who were exposed to Agent Orange in other countries, including Guam. Roy attended Fluvanna Community Church and was a life member of the Herman Kent Post 777 American Legion in Celoron and a member of the Lakewood Rod and Gun Club.

He enjoyed bowling, fishing, and sports cars. He especially loved his grandchildren and also attending car shows and driving his Corvette in the Memorial Day parade. Surviving are his wife Ruthann Bentley Foster whom he married August 11, 2007; a daughter, Alicia (Jeremy) Foster Jock of NY; three grandchildren, Amelia Thomas, Kenah Yurek, and Axel Roy Jock; a step son, Harold Bentley III (Christine) of Erie, PA; a sister, Katherine (Dan) Holdridge of Jamestown and Florida; two brothers, Robert Foster of Bemus Point, NY, David (Trudy) Foster of Colorado; a brother in law, Wayne Leisure; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Joyce Leisure, and a brother, Paul Foster. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev.

Dayle F. Keefer, retired pastor will officiate. Burial with full Military Honors will be in Veterans Grove at Lake View Cemetery. The family will receive friends for two hours prior to the service Tuesday in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Chautauqua Hospice and Palliative Care, 20 W. Fairmount Ave, Lakewood, NY 14750.
