Lester’s Obituary Funeral services for Lester Gosch, age 80 of Pierre, South Dakota and formerly of the Glenham area will be held on Friday, February 15, 2019, at 2:00 p.m. at Redeemer Evangelical Lutheran Church (WELS) in Pierre, South Dakota. The Rev. John Schwartz will officiate.

A family service will be held on Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m. at Feigum Funeral Home in Pierre, SD. Visitation will be on Thursday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Feigum Funeral Home in Pierre. There will be a visitation for one hour prior to the service at Redeemer Evangelical Lutheran Church on Friday.

Lester met his Savior on February 10, 2019, at his home in Pierre. Lester George Gosch was born on August 27, 1938, at the doctor’s residence in Selby, South Dakota. He was the second child born to Frank and Lydia (Sulzle) Gosch.

He graduated from Selby High School in 1956 and studied at Huron College where he was a football standout. He was an accomplished athlete in baseball, basketball, football and track. His proudest athletic accomplishment was playing in the state basketball tournament in 1955.

Lester began his career by joining the family farming business which he eventually sold to his three younger brothers. He owned and operated Gosch Implement in Glenham, South Dakota in the early 60’s. He then went into the sales business, selling and managing for Purina in Minnesota and Hubbard Milling in South Dakota.

He then worked with his father and his brother, Ken, in establishing and managing New Evarts resort in 1983. Last 30 years of his life he was associated with Lamb Chevrolet in Onida, South Dakota where he was in Case machinery sales until the time of his death. Lester was a member of Redeemer Evangelical Lutheran Church (WELS) of Pierre, South Dakota.

He was baptized and confirmed at St. Jacobi Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glenham, South Dakota He was an avid hunter and a fisherman. He was well known for his love for wildlife and the outdoors. Lester is survived by his wife Jerrie (Konfrst) three children, Natalie (John), Sioux Falls, SD, Sherrie (Mike) Knott of Oglala, Nebraska, Michelle (Dan) Simon of Sioux Falls, South Dakota 8 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren.

His stepchildren, Jamie King and Carie King, their children Morgan, Jadden and Mikaela. Grandchildren, Jaylinn, Krystena, Hailey. Lester was preceded in death by his first wife, Edna (Lemley 2005), his parents Frank (2001) and Lydia (1999), and one brother, Eugene (1976).
