Lester Ray Boyd, 63, of Springfield, passed away on Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at Memorial Medical Center. He was born on February 2, 1955 in Springfield, the son of Melvin F. and Bonita Benson Boyd; he married Patricia Morrow on July 19, 1985. Les retired from law enforcement after many years of service.

He was the founder of the 51st Highland Division WWI Scotland Re-enactment Group. He loved to spend time with his family especially his grandkids. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Robert Boyd.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Boyd of Springfield; two daughters, Rebecca N. (Kyle) Vanderwater of Desoto, MO and Bonita K. Boyd (fiancé, Steven Cash) of Clarksville, TN; and grandchildren, Audra and Aiden Buckley, and Landon Vanderwater. Visitation will be from 1:00 pm until the time of the funeral service at 2:00 pm on Friday May 11, 2018 at Ellinger-Kunz & Park Funeral Home with Reverend Larry Hanson officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
