Carolyn J. Rhoades, 77, of Springfield passed away on Sunday, June 17, 2018 at her residence. Carolyn was born on February 20, 1941 in Springfield the daughter of James C. and Lena Allison Cook. She married Richard A. Rhoades on October 18, 1983; he preceded her in death on November 3, 2003.

She was a homemaker and a member of Real Life Church, and Rt. 66 Cruisers. She was a former member of the Eagles Club, and she enjoyed playing Bingo.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sons, James Robert and Jack Owen Akers; sisters, Tudy Neale and Rita Bosaw; brothers, Jim, Ray, Don, Ron and Gary Cook. She is survived by four daughters, Janice (Paul) Peavy of Springfield, Carol “Teana” (Tim) Scannell of Springfield, Tresa Unland of Springfield, Rita (Jeremiah) Duff of Edinburg; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation will be from 4-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 21, 2018 at Real Life Church 2701 Hermitage Road, Springfield, IL 62703.

Funeral services at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 22, 2018 at Real Life Church with Reverend Clink Cook and Reverend Paul Peavy officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Real Life Church 2701 Hermitage Road, Springfield, IL 62703.
