OBITUARY LETA P. RUNYANS June 30, 1923 – September 17, 2018 Leta P. Runyans “Flossie” age 95 resident of Cropwell, AL passed away on September 17, 2018. She was born to John Calvin Patterson and Lula Mae Powers Patterson and raised in Birmingham, graduate of Woodlawn High School. She married James O Runyans II on June 1, 1943 in Birmingham, AL, and they lived primarily in Homewood until 1977 until they moved to Cropwell, AL just south of Pell City.

Mr. James O. Runyans II preceded her in April 2009. Mrs. Runyans was a member of Trinity Methodist Church in Homewood, AL and was an active member of the community. She purchased Terri’s Tall Fashion where she operated it until 1990.

Mrs. Runyans moved to Cropwell with her husband and she continue to be an active member of the community joining St. Simon’s Episcopal Church. When Mrs. Runyans retired and closed Terri’s Tall Fashion she became more active in the community serving for 20 years as member of the St. Clair Regional Hospital Auxiliary volunteers. She enjoyed her free time as well by playing bridge with several active bridge clubs around Pell City, Al.

Mrs. Runyans is preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Elna Pricket, Pauline Patterson Garman, both of Birmingham and Betty Jean Patterson Hale, Montgomery. She is survived by her two sons James O. Runyans III (Mary) and John Garry Runyans (Patti). Mrs. Runyans boasted of her six grandchildren, Stephanie R. Garner (Chess), Lauren R. Evans (Brad), James O. Runyans IV (Jessica), John G. Runyans II (Aereal), William Brian Runyans and Robert Bradley Runyans and her sister Carolyn Chandler (Birmingham).

She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be at Thursday September 20, 2018 from 1:00 until 2:00 at John’s Ridout Mortuary-Elmwood Chapel, 800 Dennison Ave SW, Birmingham, AL 35211. Funeral service will be follow at 2:00 pm.

Interment will follow at Elmwood Cemetery.
