Obituary for Lewis Ford Lewis Earl “Big E” Ford, 85, of Sutherland, passed away on Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at his residence. Born January 17, 1933 in Ford, Virginia he was the son of the late John A. and Ruth Wilkes Ford and was preceded in death by two brothers, Warren and William Ford and a sister, Virginia Joyner. Mr. Ford was a member of Smyrna Baptist Church for 18 years, a retired Inspector for Reynolds Metals Extrusion with 40 years of service and a United States Army veteran.

He was a member of the Sutherland Ruritan Club for many years, the VFW Post #2239 and the Colonial Heights American Legion Post #284. Earl is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Maggie W. Ford; his children, Cindy L. Ford, Donald W. Ford and wife, Debbie, David E. Ford and wife, Karen, and Dennis H. Ford and wife, Amy; grandchildren, Ethan W. Ford and wife, Lauran, Elaina J. Ferry and husband, Trevor, and Emily L. Ford; great-grandchildren, Delaney G. Ford and Brody E. Ford; a sister, Lois F. Coon; two brothers, Leroy D. Ford and wife, Sue and Larry W. Ford and wife, Melody and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, April 22, 2018 at Smyrna Baptist Church, 18971 Carson Road, Dinwiddie, Virginia 23841 with the Reverend Dr. Robert W. Rowland III officiating.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the memorial service from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. at church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Smyrna Baptist Church. Arrangements by the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard.
