Obituary for Lila Mae Rose (Jenkins) LILA MAE JENKINS ROSE, 94, of White Stone, Virginia passed from this life on Thursday, December 13, 2018 Lila was born on July 17, 1924 in Ocran, Virginia to Daniel and Miscal Jenkins, the youngest of 9 children. She married Ray Rose on December 8, 1943. He passed away in 1979.

During her life she was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother. She truly enjoyed family gatherings and a highlight in her golden years was a Family Reunion in 2009 at Lynhams, the historic home in Northumberland County where the family lived in the 1920s. She retired as a Division Secretary, Dept of Army Transportation in Fort Eustace.

She later obtained her Realtors License and worked as a Realtor and also was secretary for White Stone Methodist Church until she was 83 years young. Lila was blessed with the gift of music. She shared her musical talents playing the organ and piano and directed the choir at churches in the Kilmarnock and White Stone area, as well as Imperial Plaza in Richmond VA.

Lila was a poet and writer and her poems and prose were published frequently in the Rappahannock Record and Our Western World’s Greatest Poems. Lila was preceded in death by her husband Ray Rose; her son Danny Ray Rose; her granddaughter Crystal Rose; as well as her parents, eight siblings Dorris Sanford, Wilmer Jenkins, Gleniss Crowther, Oleta Havelock, Elva Potter, Mavis Haynie, Daniel C. Jenkins, and Aura Faye Hicks, and her very dearest friend Rev. George Reynolds whom she met at Imperial Plaza.

She is survived by her nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 20, 2018 visitation at 10 am and service to follow at 11 am, White Stone Methodist Church. Interment will take place in the White Stone Methodist Church Cemetery.
