Obituary for Lillie Cummings Lillie Jane Cummings, age 89, of Henderson, KY, passed away at 1:04 pm, Friday, October 12, 2018 at Lucy Smith King Care Center under the care of St. Anthony’s Hospice. Lillie was a member of Assembly of God Church for many years. She was a busy homemaker raising 6 sons with her husband, Samuel.
She was described by her family as a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and was very much devoted to her family. When Lillie was out, she enjoyed visiting different flea markets in the area and singing Christian hymns, whether it was with her group of friends or to residents at several local nursing homes. At home, her favorite pastime was watching western movies and she loved John Wayne.
Lillie was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Cummings; son, James R. Cardwell; parents, Ervin and Mary Louise Jones; her step grandmother, Lucille Jones and four brothers. Survivors include: five sons, John Robertson of Robards, KY, Samuel Cummings II (Donna) of Morganfield, KY, Walter Lee Cummings, Uniontown, KY, Harold Cummings (Evelyn) of Henderson, KY, and Darrell Cummings (Susan) of Henderson, KY; 12 grandchildren, several great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren; nieces and nephews Relatives and friends are invited to Lillie’s Life Celebration from 4:00-8:00 pm Thursday October 18, 2018 and again on Friday starting at 10:00 am at Benton-Glunt Funeral Home, Henderson, KY. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, October 19, 2018 at the funeral home with Rev.
Bill Schwartz officiating. Burial will follow at Clay Cemetery in Geneva, KY. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to St. Anthony’s Hospice, 2410 S. Green St. Henderson, KY 42420.
