Linda Kaye Marek (Owens), age 69, was freed from her suffering on Monday, April 22nd, 2019. She fought a long, courageous battle against breast cancer, and she passed surrounded and held by everyone that she loved and cared for. Linda Kaye was born on January 2nd, 1950 in Beebe, Arkansas to Mary “Odean” Owens (Blasingame) and Delphard Houston Owens.

She loved her parents very much and at a young age, dedicated her life to caring for her momma. On April 25th, 1969, she eloped with the love of her life, Danny. Six years later, she was pleasantly surprised when she gave birth to her twin girls, Dana Danielle and Dawn Michelle.

In 1998, Linda became a “nana,” and she spent the rest of her life spoiling her five grandchildren. In 2014, Linda was diagnosed with stage four breast cancer. For almost five years, she fought this awful disease.

She was a brave woman, who always put others before herself. She never broke a promise, and if she wanted something, she made it happen. She taught those around her to “always stay humble and kind” and to always be up for a shopping trip.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Mary Odean Owens; her father, Delphard Owens; her brother, Doyce Owens. She is survived by her husband, Daniel Marek; her girls, Dana Marek and Michelle Conrad (Dan); her grandchildren, Madelyn, Chris, Cameron, Mary Grace, and Jillian; her sisters, Linda Sue Owens, Teresa Jones (Mark), Shirley McKinney, and Kathy Jackson; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family would like to show appreciation to the nurses and medical staff at Baptist Hospital of Little Rock.

In lieu of flowers, Linda has requested that donations be given to the Sunshine School of Searcy, AR. She cared deeply for all of the students and staff. To send flowers or a memorial gift to the family of Linda Kaye Marek please visit our Sympathy Store.
