Lloyd’s Obituary Lloyd Dean Burns, 93, of Fannett passed away on Sunday, February 3, 2019 at Harbor Hospice House in Beaumont. He was born on September 21, 1925 to his parents, Jonas A. Burns and Edith Leola Nickeson Burns in Saline City, Indiana. Dean has been a resident of the area since 1947.

He proudly served in the U. S. Army during WWII with the 8th Division of the Thundering Herd as a tank driver, receiving the Purple Heart. Dean retired from Gulf Oil Company as an operator at the Acid Facility after 36 ½ years of service. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Fannett.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Russell Burns, Robert Burns and Lester Burns, his sisters, Helen Burns, Ruth Burns and Thelma Burns, his two brothers-in-law, Max Spurgin and Doug Kaler. Dean is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Ruth Bourque Burns of Fannett, his daughter, Nancy Landry and her husband, David of Bridge City, his son, Donald Burns and his wife, Rita of Port Arthur, four grandchildren, Chris Burns and his wife, Rebecca, Shane Landry and his wife, Olivia, Brandy Powers and her husband, Bill and Melissa Toups along with five great grandchildren. He is also survived by his two sisters, Mildred Spurgin of Indianapolis, IN.

and Lois Kaler of Richmond, IN. , his brother, Donald Burns and his wife, Barbara of Gatlinburg, TN. as well as several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, February 5, 2019 from 5:00 PM till 8:00 PM with a rosary to be prayed at 6:30 PM at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves. Service to honor Dean’s life will be at 10:30 AM Wednesday, February 6, 2019 in the Thompson Memorial Chapel at Clayton Thompson with Rev. Jim McClintock, officiating.

Entombment with Military Honors will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
