Obituary for Lloyd Vaughn Hunkins Lloyd Vaughn Hunkins was born on September 1, 1925 in Exeter, Nebraska to Lloyd and Jennie Hunkins. Vaughn lived in Exeter until 1940 when his parents moved to Highland, Illinois. Being only 14 years old, he had to move with them.

He remained in Highland until 1943 when he enlisted in the U S Navel Seabees. He served in the Seabees for four years being stationed in Saipan and Japan. Returning to civilian life he attended Washington University in St. Louis for two years and then to Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois where he graduated with a degree in accounting.

He passed the certified public accountants exam in 1959 and entered the field of public accounting. He retired in 1990. In 1949 he married Mary Mattox and from this union four children were born; Cathy, James, Janet and Sandra.

In 1970 he was divorced. In 1972 he married Shirley Hunter Tallman. During his life one of his favorite hobbies was remodelling houses.

Almost every house that he lived in, he changed it finishing basements, adding bedrooms, sunrooms, etc. After retirement he had a house framed and he finished all of the inside work. He also liked to play golf and play bridge.

After retirement he spent his time in organizations helping others, such as Alternatives to Violence, Saint (Senior Alternatives in Transportation), The Community Kitchen, Kiwanis Club and the Catholic Church. Vaughn was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter Cathy. He is survived by his daughters Janet and Sandra and his son James.
