Obituary for Karl D. Yost Karl D. Yost died peacefully at home, in his sleep, June 13, age 64. He was a longtime resident of Ft. Collins, having moved here in 1978.

He always dreamed of living in the great outdoors, becoming an Eagle Scout as a young man, learning to respect nature in all its bounty. He fell in love with Colorado, while visiting friends when he was 25 & never left. He was an avid cyclist, hiker, backcountry skier & kayaker, exploring the many trails of Colorado, his true home.

He was a caring person, leaving his Ft. Collins home for a 3 year period, to help care for his dying Mother, Julie Yost Lapin of La Jolla, CA. Some of you may remember him as a bike mechanic, at the now defunct Bike Broker in town.

He left to pursue his true passion, which was that of a ceramist, working out of his home & selling his work to galleries throughout the country. He was an exhibitor at the prestigious Smithsonian Institute’s Art Show twice, a juried show. He received his Fine Arts Degree from Northern Illinois University.

His work reflected his love of the outdoors, mimicking the mountain landscape he loved so much. He is survived by his Sister & Brother-in-law, Christine Yost Mirabelli & Frank Mirabelli of San Diego & his Brother & Sister-in-law, Kurt Yost & Audrey Yost of Chicago. He had 2 Nephews; Michael & David Mirabelli & niece; Julia Mirabelli.

He was a solitary soul with a good heart & much love, oft times hard to see through his veiled quiet demeanor. Those of us who knew him, loved him & will sorely miss him. To send flowers or a memorial gift to the family of Karl D. Yost please visit our Sympathy Store.
