Obituary for Melody Sue Hagenlock Melody Sue Hagenlock, 62, died peacefully with her husband and son by her side on Sunday, May 20th, 2018. She was born February 29th, 1956 in Sheridan, WY, to Mike Poulos and Helen (Leath) Poulos (Helen Mader), who both precede her in death. At a young age, Melody moved to Buffalo, WY to attend school and graduated in 1975.
She loved spending time on the Leath family ranch, riding horses with her many cousins. She participated in many horseback riding events held during the Johnson County Fair and Rodeo. After high school, Melody proudly served as deputy assessor under Dorothy Elsom at the Johnson County Assessor’s office until moving to Colorado in 1982 where she became a prominent real estate agent for the past 36 years in the Northern Colorado and Denver areas.
She loved new construction, design and sharing time with her fellow agents, the last 17 years being with Sears Real Estate. Melody was known by many and loved by many more as her captivating personality and genuine love for people was unforgettable. She married Lew Hagenlock October 22nd, 1983, celebrating 34 years of marriage this past year.
Melody loved to travel, experiencing new places, and culture and enjoyed spending time relaxing on a warm beach with a good book. She also enjoyed the experience of deep sea fishing with her boys and getting to know the crew on a personal level. By the time she returned to the marina, she knew their life story and all their favorite restaurants and local attractions.
Melody grew up in a family full of musical talent and spent many family gatherings singing and dancing the night away. That love for music and dancing never faded as she attended many concerts throughout the years and dancing was always a must. Melody also enjoyed spending time in her garden, cooking, attending social events and entertaining her friends.
The true loves in Melody’s life were her boys; spending time with them and her friends is what Melody enjoyed most. Melody’s elegant style was an extension of her radiant personality that continued to shine throughout her battle with cancer. Melody loved sports and was an avid Denver Broncos fan, attending many games and enjoying the tailgating experience with many of her friends.
She was a devoted partner to her workout friends and continued to exercise at home despite her illness. Melody privately battled preexisting health issues prior to her diagnosis of Glioblastoma, an aggressive brain cancer in November, 2017. Throughout her treatments and battle with cancer, Melody remained defiant and her passion to fight in any way possible became a challenge in life that she met with grace and perseverance.
She is survived by her husband Lew Hagenlock of Greeley, CO; and son Nicolas (Nick) Hagenlock of Denver, CO. A private ceremony will be held for family and close friends on Saturday, June 9, 2018 at 12:00 p.m. at the Allnutt Funeral Chapel located at 650 W. Drake Road, Fort Collins, CO.
