Obituary for Richard H. Winther Richard H. Winther, 84, of Fort Collins, CO passed away June 01, 2018. He was born February 12, 1934 in Des Moines, Iowa to Henry and Kathryn Zaiser Winther. The family moved to Omaha, NE, then on to Fort Collins when he was in third grade.

He was active in 4-H and raised ribbon winning steers. He was a Boy Scout and a member of the Lutheran Church. Wrestling was his favorite high school sport, and woodworking was a passion.

Richard enlisted in the Navy during the Korean Conflict and left for boot camp after graduating from Fort Collins High School in 1952. He married Janet V. Tadlock in Fort Collins on June 26, 1955. He and Jan lived in Kingsville, TX, Putuxent River, MD, Chillicothe, MO and moved back to Fort Collins in 1975.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Fort Collins and Chillicothe MO. Rich and Jan had a daughter, Linda, in December 1956. At that time Rich worked several jobs while attending Colorado State University.

In 1963 Rich accepted a position as a salesman and the family moved to Chillicothe, MO. Jan and Rich enjoyed traveling and working on FCHS reunions. They missed family, life-long friends, and the beauty of the mountains.

Every year they returned to CO. Rich was an excellent 4-H leader and member of the Saddle Club. He supported Linda in participating in many horseshows.

As a devoted father, Rich taught Linda about raising animals, camping, rural life and respecting nature. He also loved fishing, and as an exceptional gardener, he made sure no one left empty handed. Rich and Jan were blessed with granddaughters and great-grandchildren whom they loved and adored.

Recitals, school programs and sport events were always attended. Rich enjoyed life, great family and friendships, laughter and even a few pranks! Richard is survived by: daughter, Linda K. Koch of Fort Collins, CO; sister, Eileen Cortra Manes of Salt Lake City, UT; grandchildren, Nicole Webb of Chillicothe, MO and Kala McCully of Fort Collins, CO; great-grandchildren, Destiny, Addison, Alijah, Haden, Isaiah, and Israel.

He was preceded in death by: wife, Janet; parents; brother, Ron; sister, Phyllis; nephew Ted; great-grandchildren Levi and Jeremiah. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, June 11, 2018 at the Allnutt Drake Chapel in Fort Collins, CO 80526. To send flowers or a memorial gift to the family of Richard H.
