MCCORDSVILLE – Lois Marie (Jessee) Paxton, age 88, of McCordsville, passed away on Monday, March 11, 2019. Lois was born in Indianapolis on May 28, 1930 to Otto and Berniece (Taylor) Jessee. Lois grew up in Indianapolis and attended Tech High School.

She married Richard Pollard in 1946. They had 4 children, Sharrel, Sylvia, Chuck, and Julie. Lois loved the Lord and joined Berean Baptist Church and accepted the Lord as her Savior on October 27, 1954.

She continued to serve her Lord in several different churches and attended Bible Study Fellowship classes for several years. She most recently was a member of Post Road Christian Church. Lois worked for Merchants National Bank and Peoples Bank for several years and enjoyed greeting all of her customers with a smile.

She was a very talented seamstress. She also enjoyed the great outdoors. After several years she found herself alone and very lonely.

After a few years of being alone, the Lord sent Ray Paxton into her life. They were married April 25, 1987. Lois’s faith and love for the Lord Jesus gave her great joy that she wanted to share with others.

Her joy and smile gave encouragement to many when she volunteered at Hancock Regional Hospital and in the hospice program. Ray and Lois moved to the Paxton home place farm after Ray’s father died in 1993. There they enjoyed serving the Lord together, raising sheep, peacocks, guineas and planting a big flower and vegetable garden.

They enjoyed visits from the grandkids and friends, sharing garden produce with family and friends and just enjoying God’s great outdoors. Lois is survived by her husband Ray; daughters, Sylvia Daily, Julie (Kevin) Richardson; son, Charles Pollard; 8 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; step-son, Jim (Patty) Paxton; step-daughters, Joyce (Rick) Riegle and Peggy (Danny) Lambert; 7 step-grandchildren; 13 step-great-grandchildren; sister, Donna (Nellie) Thibo. Lois was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Keith Jessee and Ray Cox; sisters, Kittie Butler, Ruth Linville, and Sharon Riggers; daughter, Sharrel Boike; and son-in-law, Joseph Boike.

Lois loved the Lord and looked forward to spending eternity with Him, not on her own merits but through the Lord’s great mercy. Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2019, from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140.
