Lola Jean Hughes, 86, of Christiansburg, passed away on Monday, February 11, 2019. She was born August 16, 1932 in Coal City, WV. Jean was a loving wife and mother and a terrific grandmother and great-grandmother.

She enjoyed sewing and crafting and was a cook extraordinaire. Jean was a long time member of Calvary United Methodist Church in Christiansburg. She was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Pearl Gross; an infant son; her beloved husband of 61 years, Clifford S. Hughes; as well as five sisters and three brothers.

Jean is survived by her children, Clifford S. Hughes II and wife Mary Erwin Hughes; Sherry Hughes Haley and husband C. Wayne Haley; grandchildren, Ashley Hughes Strand and husband Stephen, Liann Haley Fuller and husband Jimmy; great-grandchildren, Aubrie and Emmy Fuller, and Emily Strand; as well as sister-in-law, Nina Hughes. A Memorial Service will be held at Calvary UMC on Saturday, February 23, 2019 at 2 p.m. Services will be conducted by Rev. Sebert Rorrer.
