Lola Maiden Anderson of Kansas City, Missouri March 26, 1939 – February 9, 2019 Lola was born March 26, 1939, in Clarksdale, MS to her parents, Henry Anderson and Allie Drake. Lola was educated in the Coahoma County schools of Mississippi. She received her Licensed Practical Nursing degree from Mississippi Valley State University in Itta Bena, MS.

She received her Registered Nursing degree from Penn Valley College in Kansas City, MO, and her Bachelor of Arts degree in Nursing from the University of St. Francis in Joliet, IL. Lola professed a faith in God at an early age and was baptized at Mt. Ary Missionary Baptist Church in Friars Point, MS.

She relocated to Kansas City, MO in 1965, and became a faithful member of Morning Star Baptist Church. In 2005, she joined Friendship Baptist Church where she was a diligent and faithful member until her passing. She was a member of the WMU Daisy Stevenson Circle, Nursing Ministry, and Sunday school.

Ms. Lola’s career began at Northwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center in Clarksdale, MS. In 1965, she became a nurse at Menorah Medical Center Labor and Delivery, where she eventually became night charge nurse. In 1983, she became Clinical Nurse Manager of Labor and Delivery at Truman Medical Center, KCMO.

She ended her career at the City of Kansas City Health Department, retiring in 2004, as Director of AIDS/HIV services. She was also a school nurse for several years in the Kansas City, Missouri School District and at The Academy of Kansas City Charter School. She taught Labor classes, and parenting classes.

She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and two sisters. She leaves to fondly remember her: three brothers, Ravalon Matfield of Indianapolis, IN, Henry Anderson of KCMO, Samuel Anderson of Virginia Beach, VA; sister; Delores Tunson of Clarksdale, MS; son; Matthew O’Hara Maiden (Monique); two daughters; Monika O’Dette Maiden Raglin all of KCMO, and Miriam O’Neida Maiden of Garland, TX; five grandchildren, Miriam O’Keedra Maiden of Lee’s Summit, MO, Ronald Glen Raglin, II, Matthew O’Hara Maiden, II (Kayla) both of KCMO, Nehemiah David Lewis of Garland, TX, and Miriam O’Nique Maiden of KCMO; six great-grandchildren, along with a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and other “adopted” children. Services for Mrs. Anderson will be held 11:00 A.M. Monday, February 18, 2019, at Friendship Baptist Church, with Rev.

James A. Terrance, Jr. officiating. Burial Blue Ridge Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call from 9:00 A.M. until service time Monday at the church.
