Lonnie Ray Young, 85, of Marion, passed away Thursday, February 21, 2019, at the CLC at the VA Medical Center in Marion. Graveside services, with military honors, will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 26, 2019, at Herrin City Cemetery, with Pastor Gilbert Craig officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Activities Department at the VA Medical Center in Marion.

Lonnie was born on April 24, 1933, in Herrin, to Guy Urban and Helen Marcella (Reeder) Young. He married Marilyn Vaught in 1968 and she preceded him in death in 2008. He is survived by his sons, Lance (Nancy) Young of Aurora, Colorado and Brad Young of Carbondale; grandchildren, Cy A. Young and Lindsey Young.

Lonnie was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marilyn Young; and daughter-in-law, Karen Young. He honorably served our country in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. Lonnie retired after 30 years of service from General Telephone.
