St. Albans – Loren R. Poirier a lifelong resident of this community passed away Friday June 22, 2018, from injuries due to a motorcycle accident. Born in St. Albans on November 29, 1961, he was the son of Donald G. Poirier and the late Jeanne (Montcalm) Poirier. Loren was 56 years old.

People will forget what you said. People will forget what you did. But people will never forget how you made them feel.

It is how Loren Poirier made us feel that says who he was… Read More » and how he will be remembered in our hearts: Loved, Respected and Valued. He brought light into people’s lives – like a firefly in the darkness. His true love in life was connecting to family and friends.

Loren was a fun-loving parrot-head who found a Harley-Davidson later in life. Riding the back roads of Vermont brought Loren great joy as well as deep friendships that included his IBM family and survivor night crew. Some refer to the time between our birth and death as the – dash.

Loren’s dash is a heart. He gave of himself freely with such joy and meaning yet seemingly effortlessly. When anyone reached out, his response was … “What do you need, what can I do”.

His genuine support, quick wit and wry sense of humor will be missed. He inherited a talent for woodworking from his paternal grandfather. Building things was an expression of his heart, patience, dedication and commitment to excellence.

We can only be comforted to know that he has served his purpose in life: to love, bring joy to others and make a difference. A beloved son, brother and friend. 1961 2018 Loren was a 1979 graduate of Bellows Free Academy and worked for the former IBM and now Global Foundries for the past 35 years.

He was a member of St. Albans Lodge # 1566, B.P.O.E. and Silver Towers, Sons of the American Legion and American Legion Riders association with Green Mountain Post # 1 and was a yearly participant with the Rolling Thunder. He was an avid blood donor again another example of his selflessness.

Survivors include his father Donald Poirier and his wife, Patricia King, of St. Albans; 3 sisters, Laurinda Solomon and her husband, Dr. Richard Solomon of St. George, VT; Lynnca Perkins and her husband, Tim, of Fairfield and their daughters, Siobhan Perkins and her fiancé, Daniel Vega of Washington, DC and Analesa Perkins of Keene, NH; and Luann Poirier and her wife, Robin Racine, of Richmond, VT and a brother, Lyle Poirier and his wife, Angela and their daughter and Loren’s god-daughter, Madysen of Swanton. He leaves his nephew, Jason Trainer and his wife, Shannon, and their daughters, Abby and Allison of St. Albans and niece, Britini Trainer and her daughter, Kaydence of St. Albans as well as the DiPinto family of Medford, MA and the Montcalm families of Franklin County.
