Loretta J. Buchheit, 86, of LeClaire, Iowa passed away on Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at Genesis Medical Center – East Campus, Davenport, Iowa. A gathering to celebrate Loretta’s life will be held from 9:30 – 11:30 a.m. on Saturday at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Inurnment will be in Glendale Cemetery, LeClaire.

Memorials may be directed to Camp Courageous. Loretta Joy Thompson was born on July 15, 1932 in North Dakota, the daughter of Pedar and Laura (Grabinger) Thompson. On July 22, 1950, she married Francis “Bill” Buchheit in Davenport.

After working 39 years at LeClaire State Bank, Loretta worked at McCarthy Bush Real Estate. She also volunteered at Cinderella’s Cellar in Davenport. Loretta was a member of Our Lady of the River Catholic Church, Catholic Service Board, and the LeClaire Chamber of Commerce.

She is survived by her husband, Bill Buchheit of Bettendorf; children, Murray “Boo” (Kris) Buchheit of Ames, Iowa, Beth (Joe) Ackerman of LeClaire, Lisa (Steve) Williams of Eldridge, Iowa; sister, Darlene “Babe” (Gene) Bremmer of Parker Prairie, Minnesota; brother, Patrick “Butch” (Laurie) Thompson of Alexandria, Minnesota; four grandchildren, Kara Silverthorn of Davenport, Joe (Oie) Ackerman of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Joshua (Erica) Ackerman of LeClaire, Alex Buchheit of Iowa City, Iowa; and great-grandchildren, Aden and Gavin Ackerman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Cathy Buchheit; and siblings, Delores, Arlene, Mary Jane, Gerry, and Loren.
