Loretta M Christensen July 31, 1915 – June 5, 2018 Loretta M Christensen (nee Hannon) a resident of West Chicago since 1948, peacefully passed away June 5, 2018 at the age of 102. She was born in Geneseo, Ill on July 31, 1915, the daughter of Mary and Thomas J Hannon. She was preceded in death by her husband Max Christensen, brothers Daniel Hannon, Robert Hannon, Ralph Hannon and sisters Clara Edmonds, Alma Johnson, Marie Vickroy and Dorothy Plotner.

She is survived by multiple generations of nieces and nephews. Loretta was a well-known DuPage County artist and member of the DuPage Art League since the 1950’s. Through the years, she has exhibited her paintings at local juried art shows and won many awards for her artwork.

She enjoyed traveling, especially to the great art museums and gardens of Europe, with family and friends and always had a camera in hand to document her travels. She was an avid gardener and member of the West Chicago Garden Club. Her gardens were on display for the 2000 Mosey Posey Garden Walk.

Her garden was also featured in Chicago Home and Garden magazine in the Summer 2003 issue. Her home in High Lake, Strawberry Hill Cottage, was her pride and joy. She was well known for her Easter basket hunt, hosting up to 30 children each year from 1948 until 2008 with baskets individually created for each child.

Many children from the early years were able to bring their children in the later years to this annual event. With her cheerful manner and bright smile, Loretta will be remembered as a delightful aunt and devoted friend. Her joy of life showed through in the passions, pursuits and people she surrounded herself with.

She will be deeply missed by family, friends and all who knew her. Visitation will be held Friday, June 8 from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM at Williams-Woodward Funeral Home, 820 Pine St, West Chicago with burial at Glen Oak Cemetery to follow. A memorial service will be held on her birthday, Tuesday July 31, 2018 at New Covenant Church of Naperville, 1 Bunting Lane, Naperville, IL.
