Obituary for Louella Smith Cribb Louella Smith Cribb, 97, of Spartanburg, SC died Friday, June 8, 2018 at home. Born September 30, 1920 in Lake Park, GA, she was the daughter of the late John Fredrick and Mary Frances Brown Smith and the widow of Richard Boyd “Scotty” Cribb, Sr. Louella graduated from Lake Park High School and attended Georgia Teachers College, which is now Georgia Southern University. She met her husband while working at Moody Air Force Base in Valdosta, GA, during WWII.

She worked for many years with Marion Griffin Co., real estate and then retired as a secretary with an investment company. She was a children’s Sunday school class teacher at Southside Baptist Church, where she was an active member for many years. Survivors include sons, Richard Cribb, Jr. of Spartanburg, SC and The Rev.

Dr. Thomas S. Cribb of Chase City, VA; grandson, Jonathan Cribb of Chase City, VA; granddaughter, Hannah Cribb of Richmond, VA; sister, Kathryne Thomas of Jacksonville, FL; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by siblings, Mary Frances Hunter, Edna Smith Higgs, Johnnie Cannister, and Roger Brown Smith. Graveside service will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, June 12, 2018 in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307, conducted by The Rev.

Dr. Thomas Cribb and The Rev. Dr. Schuyler Peterson. Visitation will follow at the graveside.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Southside Baptist Church, 316 South Church Street Ext. , Spartanburg, SC 29306 or to The Music Club of Spartanburg Scholarship Fund, c/o Pat Cook, 637 Spencer Circle, Spartanburg, SC 29307.
