Obituary for Louis Arthur Lawson Sr. Louis Arthur Lawson, Sr., 88, of Broken Arrow was born July 13, 1930 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Chester and Frances (Mielke) Lawson and passed away Wednesday, September 5, 2018 in Muskogee, OK surrounded by his family. At the young age of 15, Louis joined the U.S. Army in 1945 and served during WWII. Receiving an honorable discharge in 1947.

In 1951 he joined the U.S. Navy during the Korean war and served on several vessels and at many stations, including U.S. Recruiting Station in St. Louis, Missouri; U.S. Training Station in San Diego, California; U.S. Naval Receiving Station in Seattle, Washington; U.S. Naval Station in Adak, Alaska; U.S.C.S. BAYONNE, New Jersey; USS MCGINTY (DE-365); U.S. Receiving Station, San Francisco, California; U.S. Naval Hospital, Tripler and U.S. Naval Hospital, Mare Island, Vallejo, California receiving an honorable discharge in 1953. On March 24, 1968 he married the love of his life, Mary Marie Horney in Cuba, Missouri.

This marriage stood the test of time of 50 years, 5 months and 12 days until his passing. And to this union 2 children were born. Louis was a member of the Church of God – E.I.M. Louis was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Gloria Stelfox; brother, Chester Raymond Lawson Jr. and son, Louis Joseph Lawson.

He is survived by his wife; Mary of the home; sons, George Nicholas Lawson, Ronald Eugene Lawson, Michael Jeffery Lawson, Steven Michael Schmitz, Louis Arthur Lawson Jr. and Chester Raymond Lawson III; daughter, Teresa Ann Lawson; 17 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren and many friends. A celebration of Louis’ life will be 10:00AM Friday, September 7, 2018 at the Fort Gibson National Cemetery Pavilion with Deacon Jody Smith officiating. Military Honors will be presented.
