Louis Charles Arruda Jr., 79 of Red Oak, Texas and Stafford Springs, Connecticut soared to the heavens above on January 1, 2019 with his family by his side. Born in Taunton, Massachusetts, son of the late Louis and Georgianna (Fontes) Arruda. He was a graduate of Taunton High where he achieved All Bristol in baseball.
He attended Mass Maritime Academy in Buzzards Bay Massachusetts earning a degree in Engineering. As a cadet he did what he loved the most sailing the high seas. After graduating, from MMA he worked for the Gulf Oil Company and United Fruit Company, sailing to different ports He then worked as a Senior Experimental Engineer at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft in Connecticut.
He later had his own insulation company called AT&T Urethane Systems in Connecticut. After moving to Red Oak, Texas in the early 80’s he was a property manager and owner. He had many goals that he achieved, too many to mention, but here are a few.
He raced at Stafford Motor Speedway in the late 60’s in car #32. He was a two-time president of the Red Oak Lion’s Club. He raised pedigree Rottweilers with his beloved Brutus as his favorite.
At the 1997 Texas State Fair, one of his prized Boar Goats won Grand Champion Doe. His best achievements were his family. He taught them many lessons in life.
First and foremost, the importance of hard work. He took the family on many vacations, but the most memorable were the ones on Martha’s Vineyard, where we fished, clammed and jumped off the second bridge. Louie is survived by his loving wife of 58 years Judith Jean (Spencer) Arruda, four children, Rhonda M. Piccoli and her husband Robert of Florida, Louis C Arruda I l l and his fiancé Judith Turner of Connecticut, Cheryl A. Arruda and her husband Michael Bellucci of Mississippi and Margaret C. Arruda-Dollison and her husband Michael of Texas, nine grandchildren, Angela Doherty and her husband Evan, Brittney Arruda and her fiancé Steven, Louis Arruda IV, Kelley Arruda, Audrey Bellucci, Sara Bellucci, Vincent Bellucci, Devon Dollison, Demi Dollison, and three great grandchildren, Christopher, Carson, and Jeremy, brothers Douglas Arruda and his wife Iris, Roger Arruda, Raymond Arruda, Joseph Arruda and his wife June and sister Nancy Salem.
He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews and his special cousins in Caldwell, Texas. A celebration of his life will take place in Connecticut this summer — date to be determined.
