Lucille’s Obituary Lucille (Moch) Hammer, 73, Bismarck, but lived in Braddock most of her life, passed away May 23, 2019 at Sanford Health Center after a long battle with cirrhosis. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 28, 2019 at St. Katherine’s Catholic Church, Braddock, with Fr. David Zimmer officiating.
Burial will follow at St. Katherine’s Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday, May 27, 2019 at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck, where a rosary/vigil service will begin at 7:00 p.m. Lucille, also known as Snooks, was born in Braddock on December 13, 1945 to Edward and Magdalena (Vetter) Moch. She was raised on a farm south of Braddock and attended Braddock Public School, graduating in 1964.
Lucille married John Hammer on October 14, 1967 at St. Katherine’s Catholic Church in Braddock. Together they owned and operated Braddock Implement and farmed near Braddock. Lucille stayed home and raised her children, 2 boys and 3 girls, until the youngest was in school.
She then began to work part time at the Braddock Post office. John and Lucille built a home in Bismarck in 2014 and began splitting their time between Braddock and Bismarck. Lucille decorated many birthday and wedding cakes and was known for her wonderful cooking and baked goods.
She enjoyed spending time with her nine grandchildren, always baking or sewing something special for them. She was a member of St. Katherine’s Alter Society, and past member of the Braddock Park Board and Braddock Community Development. Her and John were also members of the October Anniversary Club which was comprised of many people in the surrounding areas that had wedding anniversaries in October.
Lucille is survived by her husband of 51 years, John Hammer; children, Wayne (Carol Faller) Hammer, Bismarck, Jodi Lee (Robert) Weigel, Kintyre, Deon (Liza) Hammer, Tanya Hammer, Roxanne (Austin) Van Zomeren, all of Bismarck; grandchildren Mariah (Jayden Haider) Weigel, Devin and Drew Weigel, Faith, Hope and Camden Hammer, Skylar, Anika and Hadley Van Zomeren; her sisters, Alvina (Tony) Splonskowski, Shirley (Joe) Splonskowski, of Bismarck, Diane (Donnie) Hager, Braddock, her brother, Robert (Mikie) Moch, Lincoln; brothers-in-law Del Svalen, Braddock, Fred (Jan) Hammer, Fargo, George (Gail) Hammer, Cave Creek, AZ; sister-in-law, Theresa (Roger) Grover, Buena Vista, CO; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Magdalena Moch; two sisters, Lorraine Feyereisen and Arleen Svalen; and four brothers-in-law, Adolph Feyereisen, Bernard Hammer, Robert Hammer and Paul Hammer.
