Maysil’s Obituary Maysil Abbott, 88, Dawson, died May 8, 2019, at Sunset Drive Prospera Community, Mandan. At Maysil’s request, a private family service will be held at 11:00 am Monday, May 13, at Eastgate-Steele Memorial Chapel in Steele, ND, with Rev. Bruce Adams officiating.

Burial will be at the Dawson Cemetery. Maysil Irene (Nicholson) Abbott was born September 24, 1930, on the Nicholson family farm south of Dawson, the daughter of Clifford and Mary (Niles) Nicholson. Maysil attended rural Dawson school, graduating from Dawson High School.

After graduating, Maysil married John Perry (JP) Abbott on October 28, 1952. They farmed north of Dawson until 1975 when they moved to Steele. Maysil enjoyed all sports, especially basketball, which she played in high school.

She also loved flowers, which was evident in all the flower beds she maintained. Maysil is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Wanda and Delmer Neitzel, Steele; her son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Deb Abbott, Dawson; five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and one more expected in November; sister, Audrey Strang, Mesa, AZ; brother, Wes Nicholson, Dawson; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, John; two sons, Douglas and Mark; and her parents.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Golden Manor, Steele; Dawson Cemetery; or Sunset Drive Prospera Community, Mandan.
