Jenell’s Obituary Jenell Dorothy Linzbach Oberlander passed away at the U of M Hospital, Twin Cities on May 18, 2019. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday May 29 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 502 N 4th Street, Bismarck, ND. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.

Jenell was born in Jamestown, ND at the Jamestown Hospital on November 3, 1938 to John and Cornelia (Kraling) Linzbach. Her family moved to Bismarck when she was four years old. She graduated from Bismarck High School in 1956.

She then went to Jamestown College with a four-year nursing scholarship. Jenell married LeRoy A. Oberlander on June 4, 1960 at Trinity Lutheran Church. Jenell taught nursing at Dickinson State College and became a supervisor at the hospital.

They lived in Dickinson for 43 years. Jenell belonged to Profession Nursing Organization, was a member of all the Lutheran churches where they lived throughout the years and was also a member of the Methodist Church in Dickinson. She headed a Service League group, serving communion at both churches in Dickinson.

She was a Sunday school teacher, Cub Scout and 4-H leader, an officer in Homemakers, and an Advisor in Delta Zeta Ca Nat’l Sorority at DSU. She attended several Nat’l conventions. Jenell had flower gardens and numerous plants in her home.

She always had a huge garden and was canning and freezing things for her family. She made huge caramel rolls, pies and thousands of cookies. Her son’s friends would ask when their mom was making those rolls so they could come over and enjoy some.

They loved her large, fully decorated, gingerbread cookies. She always told the boys “only one my dear boys or I’ll get a call from your mothers’ wanting to know what I fed you? ” she always had ice cream buckets full of cookies and lots of quick bread for any occasion.

She bowled on several leagues. Jenell is survived by her children, Jennifer, Allen, and Karla Oberlander and her five grand dogs. She was preceded in death by her husband, LeRoy A. Oberlander; her parents, John and Dorothy Linzbach; her granddaughter, Emily Grace Lewandowski; and her brothers, Lou Verne Linzbach and Neale Linzbach.
