Luella Hoeft, age 86, passed away October 9, 2018 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Corvallis, Oregon following open heart by-pass surgery. Lue was born January 5, 1932 in Lynden, Washington to father, Simon Wesselius and mother, Gerta Lambert Wesselius. She moved to Newport, Oregon in 1951 with her husband Louis (Skip) Jansen (deceased).

She was married to Donald L. Hoeft (deceased) in 1958 and has been a resident of the city for over 60 years. She was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church and an avid golfer and member of the Agate Beach Women’s Golf Association. Along with golfing, knitting, traveling, and working with church committees, she enjoyed walking on the bay front and being with family.

Lue devoted her life to creating a close family comprised of six children; Steve Jansen, Gwen Jansen, Su DeWalt, Brad Jansen (Dec. ), Stuart Hoeft, Scott Hoeft and their spouses. She was also blessed with 17 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren; all of whom she shared a special bond.
