Luevenia’s Obituary Luevenia Puryear, age 87, of Leavenworth, Kansas, passed away peacefully in her home on Sunday, January 27, 2019. A Memorial Service will be held at the family reunion late this year. Luevenia was born on October 30, 1931 in Memphis, Tennessee, to her parents James and Mary (Henson) Puryear.

She was one of six children, having three brothers and two sisters. Luevenia attended elementary school and graduated from high school in Memphis, Tennessee. It was after high school that she pursued a career in the medical field as a nursing assistant.

She cared for many people through St. Joseph’s Hospital, then located at Linwood and Prospect. Later in life, Luevenia worked for the city’s transportation system, driving a bus for Kansas City Area Transportation all through Kansas City. Luevenia married the love of her life, Robert Adair, Sr

They spent many happily married years together until his passing. From their union they had six wonderful children. Luevenia was known for her gardening skills, and her amazing home cooked—from scratch—meals and the delicious goodies she would bake.

Luevenia is preceded in death by her parents, James and Mary; her brothers William, James and Julius; and her sisters Lessie and Rene. She is survived by her daughters, Mary Dean (Jim), Vivian Herron and Roche Marshall (Lee); her sons Robert Jr., Russell and Ronnie Adair; along with many, many beloved grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. Luevenia will be fondly remembered and greatly missed.
