Obituary for Luis Chavez McAllen, Texas Mr. Luis Chavez,59, entered eternal rest on Friday, July 13, 2018 surrounded by his family at the McAllen Medical Center. Luis was born on April 22, 1959 in El Paso, Texas to Pete and Nicanora (Acevedo) Chavez. Luis was raised in San Antonio, Texas had lived in McAllen for many years.

Luis proudly served his country with the United States Marine Corp. from 1978-1985. Luis was employed with the City of Alamo as a police officer for 6 years.

Luis enjoyed to tend to his garden, bar b quin with family and friends, he loved listening to music, reading and loved watching horror movies. Luis truly enjoyed life to the fullest…. SEMPER FI He was preceded in death by his father and a daughter Yvette Marie Chavez.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife- Irma Ortiz Chavez, his children-Michael A. Chavez, Jovani Lee Chavez, Serina Lee Chavez; His mother Nicanora Chavez; Siblings-Jose Lopez Jr., Judy Lee Precup, Elizabeth Salazar; six grandchildren. A gathering of family and friends will take place on Monday, July 16, 2018 at Rivera Funeral Home,1901 Pecan Blvd. in McAllen from 1:00 pm to 9:00 pm with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 pm.

A celebration of life service will take place on Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at 11:00 am at Rivera Funeral Home. Military honors will be directed by VFW 8788 of McAllen. Cremation will take place at a later date.
