Luther Levere Brothers, age 89, of Gamber, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, October 19, 2018. Born July 27, 1929 in Gamber, he was the son of the late E. Claude and Amelia I. Ward Brothers. He was the husband of Eva Myers Brothers, his wife of 67 years.

Mr. Brothers was a 1946 graduate of Westminster High School. He served in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1953 in the 503rd MP Battalion in Fort Bragg, NC. He was the owner of Luther L. Brothers Builder for 33 years… Read More » and he and his wife were owners-operators of Carolyn Farm and Orchard in Gamber since 1956.

He attended Church of the Open Door, Westminster and was a member of American Legion Post 31, Westminster. He was also a member of Gamber and Community Volunteer Fire Company, where he built the current fire house and social hall. He also served on several community boards.

He enjoyed hunting, time spent in his orchard and especially spending time with his wife and family. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are children and spouses: Dennis W. and Sandy Brothers of New Windsor, Lou Ann and Allen King and Curt L. and Jen Brothers, all of Westminster; Shirley J. Miller who was “like a daughter”; grandchildren: Leara, Shannon, Nick, Leah, Amber, Rachael, Jennifer, Luke, Erin, Brody, Jack, Nicole and Ainsley; 23 great-grandchildren; siblings: Joan Gist of Westminster and Carl Brothers and wife Bonnie of Traverse City, MI; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters: Grace Shipley, Marietta Clark, Jeannette Robertson and Sue Green; and brothers: Robert and Calvin Brothers.

The family will receive friends at Gamber and Community Vol. Fire Co. Social Hall, 3838 Niner Rd. , Finksburg on Wednesday, Oct.

24 from 1 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, Oct. 25 at 10:30 a.m. at the fire hall. Military interment will follow in Providence Cemetery, Gamber.
