Lynne Champury Smith January 27, 1939 – January 03, 2019 Share this obituary Sign Guestbook| View Guest Book Entries Lynne Champury Smith, 79 of Ramsey, NJ passed away peacefully surrounded by loving family in Valley Hospital, Ridgewood, NJ on January 3, 2019. She was born in the Bronx, NY the daughter of the late Francis Champury and Marion Messer Champury Staples, and grew up in Ridgewood, NJ, attending Ridgewood High School (’56) and St. Mary’s School of Nursing in Rochester, NY. Lynne was predeceased by two siblings, Roberta Wildermann of Newburgh, NY and Richard Champury of Pittsford, NY.

She is survived by two siblings, Gale (Peter) Stagg of Newburgh, NY and Francis Champury of Bayville, NJ, and by her three children, Cheryl Smith of Saddle Brook, NJ, Steven Smith of Rochester, NY and Kenneth (Linda) Smith of Middletown, NY, and adored granddaughters Melissa Smith and Carley Smith, as well as many treasured nieces and nephews. Lynne was a devoted nurse for close to 40 years at Valley Hospital, Ridgewood, NJ, retiring in 2004. She loved trips into New York City to shows and museums, the Jersey Shore, and all forms of animals and nature, especially bird watching.

She was a kind and generous soul who will be greatly missed by all who knew her. In lieu of flowers, the family would gratefully ask for contributions to a favorite charity. Lynne gave to many worthy charitable organizations, but two close to her heart were The Hackensack Riverkeeper (231 Main St, Hackensack, NJ 07601) or the Ramsey, NJ Volunteer Ambulance Corps (41 South Island Avenue, Ramsey, NJ.

) A Memorial Service for Lynne Champury Smith will be held on Saturday, Janurary 12, 2019 between the hours of 3pm-7pm at CC Van Emburgh Funeral Home, 306 E. Ridgewood Ave, Ridgwood, NJ.
