OBITUARY Mahala McCreary Matherne March 22, 1930 – July 25, 2018 Mahala McCreary Matherne, a native of Toledo, OH and resident of Baton Rouge, LA, passed away on Wednesday, July 25, 2018, at Heritage Manor Nursing Home, at the age of 88. She was a retired East Baton Rouge Parish School bus driver. Mahala is survived by her son, Lyle W. Matherne and wife, Cindy; daughter, Phyllis LeJeune and husband, Earl; eight grandchildren, Austin Matherne, Taylor Matherne, Marshall Matherne, Lauren Yarbro, Arthur Blanchard, Kristina Blanchard, Victoria Bizette and Curtis Blanchard, Jr.; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Hymel P. Matherne, Jr.; her parents, Arthur and Grace McCreary; brother, Lawrence McCreary; and grandson, David Colin Matherne. A private religious service was held at Greenoaks Funeral Home on Saturday, July 28, 2018. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff, nurses and CNA’s at the Heritage Manor Nursing Home, as well the staff and nurses at Life Source Hospice.
