Obituary for Marc P. Bingham Our deeply loved Husband, Daddy, Papa, Friend, Spiritual Mentor, and Confidant Marc Phillip Bingham passed away Saturday evening, November 3, 2018 due to an automobile accident. Marc was born November 6, 1949 in Saginaw, Michigan to the late Lionel Bingham and Fern Bruns Bingham Paulsen. He graduated from Saginaw High class of ’68.
Marc married the former Bernadette Ann Benkert on February 10, 1973. Marc was a decorated Army Vietnam Veteran and retired from Delphi in 2002. His third career was working for Absolute!
Building Maintenance. He was also an avid volunteer for many events, organizations, neighbors and friends. He loved to tell stories that had everyone in stitches, take trips with his deeply loved wife to Mexico or traveling around Michigan with her on his 1800 Goldwing Trike.
He loved RVing or spending time at his cottage with his family and friends, especially Marlene and Laurie Elwart, Steve, Diane, and Leah Mosier, Kammy, Maddie, and Taylor Dashner, Kellie and Steve Doyle and family, Sue and George Anderson and many others too numerous to mention. He had a special passion and connection with animals, especially his horse Bruiser. He loved to cook and many people are addicted to his famous sauerkraut and kielbasa.
Marc was a man of deep faith and volunteered as a speaker to youth groups, Marriage Enrichment Seminars and Marriage Encounters. He helped co found Kid Encounter with Kelly Moody and was active in facilitating alcohol abuse prevention and recovery. He also was involved in the Army Vietnam Veterans, Crusillo, Via De Cristo and Charismatic Renewal.
Marc was involved in many activities at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Saginaw and Messiah Lutheran Church in Bullock Creek. He was also a member of the Alano Club including President of the Board, and Y’s Men’s Club. Whenever he smiled, the whole room lit up.
He was a gentle giant who loved teasing, kissing and tickling his grandkids and would do anything for anybody. Marc has had a tremendous positive impact on many in his life. Marc is survived by his wife, Bernadette, deeply loved children Julie Ronan and Wendy Peavey, and grandchildren, Kaylee and Caleb Burns, Melody, Merissa and Logan Marc Peavey, Hannah Heugel and fiancé Tay McPhail, Jay Heugel and Max Ronan.
He is also survived by his brother, Lionel Bingham, and brothers-in-law, Nick and Pam Benkert, Lawrence Benkert, Tom and Tammy Benkert, Daniel Benkert, Paul and Vicky Benkert, Peter and Irene Benkert, Tony and Jeulia Benkert and Brian Benkert; his sisters-in-law Eileen and John Cieszlak, Kathleen and David Eichler, Lorraine and Tim Wozniak, Ruth and Mark Rivette and Barb and John Pitts; his Aunt Yvonne Boensch and special friends Dave and Lexi Franz, Jeremy and Tristen Nachtman and DJ Franz, Pat Bingham, Arthur Melchor, Bob and Louise Cherry, Nate and Mykayla Wills, Father Jim Heller, Dave and Sally Daugherty and Mary Jo Moody. He also leaves several Godchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was especially close to Craig Bingham, Boa Bingham and Debbie and Mike Winchester.
He is also survived by his Step Mother, Winnie Bingham and several step siblings. He was predeceased by his brother and sister-in-law Lloyd and Sandy Bingham, and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Nick and Bernadine Boensch Benkert also his Uncle and mentor, Bob Boensch. Funeral Service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 9, 2018 at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Rd.
, (between Shattuck and McCarty). Chaplain Carol Wesolek will officiate. Military Honors will be rendered.
Honoring Mr. Bingham’s wishes cremation will follow. Friends may visit at the funeral home where the family will be present on Thursday from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the wishes of the family.
