Obituary for Bailee Suzanne Mantei Beloved daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece and friend passed away suddenly Saturday, November 3, 2018. Age 14 years. The daughter of Matthew and Brook (Wildfong) Mantei, Bailee was born March 22, 2004 in Grand Blanc, Michigan.
Bailee attended Lacure Elementary School in Clio and Freeland Schools. She started playing soccer at the young age of four in Clio, Michigan and played for CFC (Clio Football Club), Midland Fusion and the Nationals. She was a freshman at Freeland High School where she was involved in basketball, PALSS (Piers Are Linked for Social Success), Vice-President of Student Council, Chief STEM Officer (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) and was also part of the Travel Club.
Bailee was a ray of sunshine. She had a huge heart, always wanting to help people. Bailee was always making people laugh.
She wasn’t just known as Bailee; you often heard her referred to as “Bails, Bai and Baywatch”. Her cousins were her friends. She was never too old to play with her cousins that were younger.
She was a smart, beautiful, loving, caring young lady who was a blessing to her family. Bailee was loved by everyone who knew her. Her smile was radiant.
Surviving are her parents, Matthew and Brook Mantei; a sister, Avery Mantei; grandparents, Eugene and Kathy Sabin, Dennis and Marie Wildfong, John and Donna Mantei; great-grandparents, Robert and Mary O’Toole and Ray Cloutier; aunts and uncles, John and Dorothy Mantei, Dawn Messing, David Mantei, Brian Mantei, Mark and Becky Mantei, Jennifer and Chris Watts, Jeffrey and Jen Mantei, Michael and Nikki Mantei, Michelle and Michael Falardeau, Ben Wildfong, Tammy and Cory Kovacs; many cousins and special friends. Bailee was preceded in death by her grandparents, Benjamin and Mary Wildfong, Francis and Donna Wescoat, Ilah O’Toole, Mabel Cloutier, Werner and Viola Mantei. Funeral Liturgy will take place 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 9, 2018 at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Freeland, Michigan.
Rev. Fr. Robert H. Byrne will officiate with private burial in St. Andrew Cemetery.
There will be no visiting hours at the funeral home. Friends may visit at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Freeland where the family will be present on Thursday, November 8, 2018 from 12:00 noon to 8:00 p.m. and on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until time of Mass. There will be a Vigil Service 6:00 p.m. Thursday in the church.
