Mrs. Margaret B. Johnston, 84, wife of Donald Charles Johnston and a resident of Onancock, VA, passed away Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital. Born June 29, 1934 in New York, NY, she was the daughter of the late Edward Toman and Mary McCartan Toman. Margaret’s pride and joy was her family, and she happily devoted her life to being a loving and supporting wife and mother.

Once her children were in college, she too began pursuing her dreams, later receiving a bachelor’s degree in education from Mercy College in Dobbs Ferry, NY. For more than 15 years, she worked as a substitute teacher in, and around, her hometown of Mahopac, NY, and delighted in shaping young minds. Following retirement, Margaret and Donald moved to the Eastern Shore, where they have continued to enjoy their life together for the last 25 years.

In addition to her husband of nearly 62 years, she is survived by her three children, Donna Johnston McMorrow and husband Patrick of Bluffton, SC, Donald Edward Johnston of Denver, CO, and John Johnston and wife Ellen of Poughkeepsie, NY; and eight grandchildren, Patrick, James and wife Nina, Brian, Patricia, Anthony, Connor, Susan, and Katie. In accordance with her wishes, funeral services will be held privately. Memorial contributions may be made in Margaret’s memory to Riverside Shore Cancer Center, P.O. Box 430, Onancock, VA 23417.
