Obituary for Margaret Elizabeth Sullivan Margaret Elizabeth Gear Sullivan Margaret Sullivan of Covington, LA, former long-time resident of El Reno, passed away in Covington, LA on May 27, 2018. A graveside service is scheduled for Friday, June 1, at 10:00 a.m. at the El Reno City Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Wilson Funeral Home.

Margaret Elizabeth Gear Sullivan was born on December 20, 1935, in Heavener, Oklahoma to Leo Wayne and Ona Mae Anderson Gear. She graduated from Heavener High School in 1953. On June 9, 1953, she married Joe Richard Sullivan in Heavener.

In 1958, she graduated from Southwestern State College (now Southwestern Oklahoma State University) with a degree in Science. She taught science at Fort Concho Indian School and Union City High School before “retiring” to raise her family. She and Joe moved to El Reno, Oklahoma, in 1959.

After Joe’s death in 1975, she returned to the workforce as Office Manager for Hensley’s Union Tire and Energy Coatings. She lived in El Reno until 2004 when she moved to Fort Worth, TX. She lived there until 2013, when she moved to Covington, LA.

While living in El Reno, she and Joe were charter members of Amity Baptist Church. She was an active member in the Canadian County Republican Party, Canadian County Republican Women’s Club, Culture Club, American Association of University Women (AAUW) as well as Amity Baptist Church and First Baptist Church. While living in Fort Worth, she was active in First Baptist Church of Benbrook and the Tarrant County Republican Women’s Club.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother Rev. Gerald Wayne Gear and husbands Joe Sullivan and Howard Anderson. She is survived by her 3 children: Joe Richard Sullivan, Jr. (wife Gloria) of North Las Vegas, NV; Lorie Williams (husband Kevin) of Benbrook, TX; Brenda Lopiccolo (husband Kenneth) of Covington, LA; 4 grandchildren: Sarah Williams and Matthew Williams of Benbrook, TX; Cole Lopiccolo of Covington, LA and Brian Sanchez (wife Lee) of North Las Vegas, NV.
