Obituary for Margaret K. Mills Margaret K. Mills, 89 of Palatka passed away on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at Haven Hospice Roberts Care Center following an extended illness. She was a lifelong resident of Palatka and was the daughter of Hugo Kummer and Francina Duane Kummer. Margaret was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Ed Mills, who served Putnam County as a telephone installer for 33 years.

Upon retirement, the two of them enjoyed spending time with their family, especially their grandchildren. Margaret graduated from Mellon High School in 1946. She worked as a telephone operator for Southern Bell and later as the office manager at the family owned Coca-Cola bottling plant in Palatka.

She spent most of her life being a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Margaret worked as an office manager for DM Timber from 1992 until she retired in 2012. Margaret was a lifelong member of St. Monica Catholic Church.

Margaret is preceded in death by her husband, Warren Edward “Ed” Mills, granddaughter Ashley Mills, brothers Hugo, Ed and Roy Kummer and sister Mary Kummer Dobbs. Margaret is survived by her sons, Danny Mills (Ruby), Dave Mills (Susan) and Dennis Mills (Adele), Tim Weddington, grandchildren, W.D. Mills (Stephanie), Ted Mills, Cheyenne Voss (Dustin), Cody Mills, Savannah Mills, Brantley Mills, Karley Labaw and Abey Labaw, great-grandchildren, Logan Mills, Dalton Mills and Josey Mills. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. at Palatka Memorial Gardens with Father Ron Camarda and The Rev.

Robert F. Marsh, Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. at Johnson-Overturf Chapel in Palatka. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Haven Hospice (Roberts Care Center), 6400 St. Johns Ave.
