Margaret Lecyll Riley, 82, formerly of Carroll Twp. , passed peacefully on Monday, December 17, 2018, surrounded by family. She had been a resident of Country Meadows in South Fayette and Friendship Village in Upper St. Clair in recent years.
Born on October 30, 1936, she was the daughter of the late H. Wayne and Thelma D. (Ely) McAfee. Growing up in Mansfield, OH, Lecyll was a graduate of Mansfield Senior High School class of 1954. Moving to the Mon Valley shortly after graduating, she met, fell in love with, and married her husband of 56 years, the late Thomas A. Riley.
Together, they raised four children. Lecyll, as she was known to family and friends, was an extraordinary wife, mom, and grandmother. A homemaker throughout her life, she ensured her family had all they needed, and then some.
She served them lovingly with a pure heart, often sacrificing her own needs and desires. Lecyll belonged to several bowling leagues, card clubs, and was a member of the Charleroi Goodwill Club. She enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s school performances and sporting events, as well as bowling, golfing, and spending time with friends.
Her greatest joy however, was times spent with her children, grandchildren, and extended family during holidays and family celebrations. Lecyll is survived by her loving children and grandchildren who will greatly miss her: sons, Patrick (Karen) Riley, of Upper St. Clair, and David (Patricia) Riley, of Monessen; daughters, Renee (Kevin) Christensen, of Stansbury Park, UT, and Deanna (Joe) Winterbottom, of Carroll Twp. ; brothers, James (Mary) McAfee of Anniston, AL, Gary (Pat) McAfee of Lucas, OH, and Robert McAfee of Lordsburg, NM and sisters, Joanne (Larry) Bridges of Bellville, OH, and Michelle (Earnest) Mosier, of Mansfield, OH; grandchildren, Kaitlin (Eric) Devlin, Peter Riley, Damian, Adam, and Luke Winterbottom, Timothy (Shannon) Riley, Kyle Riley, and Jared (Deb), Danny (Kim), and Adam (Karra) Christensen; several great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, December 20, in the CARL J. SPALLINO FUNERAL HOME, 819 Fallowfield Ave. , Charleroi, Joseph A. Lopez, funeral director. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, in the funeral home, followed by interment in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
